Field Days at Greystone

Greystone Nature Preserve is a nonprofit located in Fredonia, New York.  As their video intern for the summer of 2019, I planned, filmed, and edited a promotional video highlighting their experiential field day programs for grade school children.  This included conducting interviews, collecting footage of activities, and editing several versions to best fit the vision of the owners.

Human Form

Human Form is a short experimental piece.  I conceptualized, shot, directed, and edited this project with a particular focus on special effects techniques.  I first filmed cloud tank footage, and I then directed my actors in front of a green screen to achieve the fluid movements I was seeking.  These were combined with the cloud tank footage using Luma/Chroma Key editing techniques in post-production.  My goal was to highlight human behavior with the organic movement achieved with cloud tanks.

Out of Sight

Out of Sight is my Senior Capstone project that I acted as Cinematographer for.  I worked closely with our director and camera operator to create shot lists and storyboards during pre-production.  Camera access, lighting challenges, and artistic compositions were all considered extensively. During filming, the three of us actively adapted to the day-to-day challenges of production.

The Door

The Door is a 16 millimeter experimental short.  I, along with two of my fellow classmates, were assigned a word prompt to inspire our projects.  Ours was 'Barrier'.  We filmed with a Bolex Model H, and chose a building on our campus with labs and equipment that were no longer in use.  Our main focus was on a mysterious door as our interpretation of 'Barrier'.
